Mini layout...

Hello blogers! Today I will show you a snapshot of my journal book. I have discovered some old photos (I try to forget how old they are, lol)  in a box and I decided to make a mini layout with one of them. I used the mixed media technique inspired from Finnabair (I'm a big fan of her)! Here is the result...

A few months ago I bought two packs with wooden blocks. I was looking for an opportunity to make something with them, so when my sister moved in to her new apartment, I thought it would be a very nice gift for her kitchen!

It was a fairly quick and easy project. First I searched the internet and found this cute picture with the chef,  I printed it and glued it onto the wood. Then, I printed this funny phrase (which I think fits pretty well in the culinary skills of my sister, lol ..), I've styled the paper with 'vintage photo' distress ink and stuck it on the back of the chipboard frame, which I found in my scrapbook stash.

The chipboard frame was the most time consuming part of the project, as I had to transform the cardboard into a metal, rusted surface. Thanks to scrapbooking's special inks and powders this surface has been given the metal and rusty feeling I was aiming for... If you wonder about the text in the frame, the translation is: "Many people have eaten here and survived"!  lol :)

After that, came the fun part. I did some stamping (floral, butterfly and mushrooms) and then glued the mini frame and mini spatula. Finally, I used some thick wire that I put through the holes on each side of the frame, tossed it in a few spots with a pencil to make it spiral, tied the ribbons and..... Voila! Hope you like it!

Well, that's it for today. My sister has already hanged it in her kitchen. All she has to do now is to catch pans and ladles and start cooking! :)
